Rooted in Values

Our work is rooted in service to both people and planet, guided by values that shape everything we do: what we make, how we make it, and who we stand with. Sustainability, justice, and advocacy are not side projects; they are the foundation. At World Centric, we live by Integrity, Community, and Ellecent — always striving to do better. It started in 2004 with a single cup made from sugarcane waste. One small object in a world drowning in plastic, extraction, and excess. We knew a cup would not fix the system, but it challenged us to imagine one that could. Today, we design smarter products from renewable materials and give directly to grassroots efforts confronting social and environmental crises.

Driving Change

Compostables are not a silver bullet, but they are a clear step away from business-as-usual, helping move us toward a circular economy that respects planetary limits. At World Centric, we know real sustainability requires addressing both environmental destruction and systemic inequality. We invest in innovation, push for better infrastructure and policies, and prioritize support for communities hit first and worst by climate injustice, often ignored or underfunded. “People and planet” is more than a phrase—it reflects the reality that climate change and social inequity are deeply connected, fueled by extractive systems that exploit Earth and its people. By challenging a throwaway culture and supporting justice, we work toward a future where both people and the planet can thrive.

It’s in the Name

World Centric was named after the belief that we need to think beyond ourselves (ego-centric), and think about the world (world-centric). With this mindset, World Centric was created in 2004 as a nonprofit organization to elevate awareness of global sustainability issues. Today, we continue to uphold the same mission and values to be of service to people and the planet in all that we do. We carry this in our business operations, which are far from business-as-usual, to address sustainability in our products, philanthropy, and practices.
